LINER NOTES:
"Long Island Rednecks" is the third release by Zim & Knux, but the duo have been making music together even longer than that. Together, they formed The Late Fees, Austin's own potty-mouthed doo-wop-punk band. The group's self-titled 2007 record garnered fans and kudos from around the world, but it would be the last as a full band. After some time working on other projects, the original duo rejoined and have been steadily releasing new material.

"Long Island Rednecks" is a country record in the same way that their 2009 album "Studio A" was a funk/soul record. . . the duo took a loose and liberal interpretation of the genre's boundries. Some songs are straight out of George Jones' playbook, while others are folky, and others still far more pop leaning. All of the songs contain the irreverent playfulness and sharp comedic wordplay of all of their previous material.

The duo has recently begun doing rare live shows, but it's anyone's guess whether or not this will continue. Zim & Knux have a low tolerance for shitty audiences (almost as low as the tolerance most audiences have for them!). So, for now, you have this record. So, send the kiddies to bed, pour yourself a glass of hootch, sit back in your rocking chair, and enjoy the country stylings of the most unlikely country music duo this side of Sheryl Crow & Kid Rock!

FROM ZIM:
In all seriousness I am very proud of this record though I had little to do with it. Knux played nearly everything and recorded it all and put a lot more time into it.. I love him for this. Somethings gotta balance out the passes he makes at me.

FROM KNUX:
Zim had everything to do with this record, even the songs he didn't write or play on. His influence is all over my own songs. Zim taught me to not take myself so seriously, and this project is a collaboration in the purest sense. For my part, I do it out of obsession and love. But mostly obsessive love.

The group's self-titled 2007 record garnered fans and kudos from around the world. Since disbanding the Fees, Zim & Knux have continued putting out new stuff. ... more
