This was one Zim wrote before our session, but we fleshed it out after a night drinking with our old buddy, KB. It's another song about cliches, but in this one, we're encouraged to embrace them.

lyrics

You got my letter in the mail
It says you tried, but you failed
But there's still a place that you can go

It isn't really far from here
You can see it crystal clear
Just a leap of faith across the sand

We got swingin' bars and barstools broken
Beer for drinkin and the weed for tokin'
And a pretty little divorcee to pass the time
Now, you can say what you want to say
As long as it's a sweet cliche
It's where country singers go to die

You walked the walk and sung the song
But 15 minutes doesn't last that long
And nobody around there remebers your name

You had some gigs, but they didn't pay
You had some girls, but they didn't stay
Well buddy, welcome to the club

We got swingin' bars and barstools broken
Beer for drinkin and the weed for tokin'
And a pretty little divorcee to pass the time
Now, you can say what you want to say
As long as it's a sweet cliche
It's where country singers go to die

Hey buddy, you got it all wrong
Started out acoustic, but it didn't last long
Got a Les Paul and I hit the road

A hundred shows, now they're all a blur
I think I had a fan, but--not sure
Hey, I'm Joan Jett, I love rock and roll

We got Jack for drinkin' and coke for snortin'
Underage girls perfect for cavortin'
And a shot of Drano for your eye
We got hair product if you wanna go femme
A candy dish full of green M&Ms
This is where rock and rollers go to die

We got Jack for drinkin' and coke for snortin'
Underage girls perfect for cavortin'
And a shot of Drano for your eye
We got hair product if you wanna go femme
A candy dish full of green M&Ms
This is where country singers in denial go to die

Zim & Knux Austin, Texas

"Time is a Mofo," a 4-song EP about aging, is the latest by Zim & Knux. The duo have been making music under that name since 2008, but their collaboration began when they formed The Late Fees, Austin's potty-mouthed doo-wop-punk band. The group's self-titled 2007 record garnered fans and kudos from around the world. Since disbanding the Fees, Zim & Knux have continued putting out new stuff. ... more
