This song represents the musical limbo in which Zimmy has found himself lately. Maybe it's the Pacific Northwest weather, but Zim has been listening to a lot of what he calls "Dad Rock" . . . Think Poco, Seals & Croft, Bread . . . that sort of thing. Like another track on this set, this song is also about cliches . . . Should we fear them or embrace them? In a fun switcheroo from our usual go-to lineup, I play bass and Zim plays guitar. Zim plays the sweet synth line. - Knux

lyrics

Beencaught up in a lot of hype
Fit into a few stereotypes
From Cancer to Generation X
As a member of the much-less fairer sex

Late Thirties White Guys cranking Public Enemy
Trying to escape Soft Rock and Seventies
Yeah, I'm rolling with the Wu Tang, but I'm dreaming about Steely Dan
It's just as sad as it seems

Man-child hair-metal fan
Music snob in a crappy band

Late Thirties White Guys cranking Public Enemy
Trying to escape Soft Rock and Seventies
Yeah, I'm rolling with the Wu Tang, but I'm dreaming about Steely Dan
It's just as sad as it seems

It's Method Man and straight cash
But I really prefer early Graham Nash
Call each other homies, but our names are Skip and Lance
We never had a chance

Late Thirties White Guys cranking Public Enemy
Trying to escape Soft Rock and Seventies
Yeah, I'm rolling with the Wu Tang, but I'm dreaming about Steely Dan
It's just as sad as it seems

about

Zim & Knux Austin, Texas

"Time is a Mofo," a 4-song EP about aging, is the latest by Zim & Knux. The duo have been making music under that name since 2008, but their collaboration began when they formed The Late Fees, Austin's potty-mouthed doo-wop-punk band. The group's self-titled 2007 record garnered fans and kudos from around the world. Since disbanding the Fees, Zim & Knux have continued putting out new stuff. ... more
